What is the difference between H and S rated tires?
Q. I have a 2001 Daewoo Nubira and need to change the tires. So the size is 185/65r14 86H, I want Michelin Tires. I called some local tires shops and they offer me with the same size but 86 S rated, and guarantee that it will not affect on car's performence. So What is the difference between H and S? and can i take S instead of H?

A. H-Speed rated to 130 mph S-Speed rated to 112 mph Get the S rated, its a Daewoo, wouldn't top 100 even if it was going downhill with a tailwind.

How much energy does the battery deliver in this 80 h interval?
Q. The manufacturer of a 9V dry-cell flashlight battery says that the battery will deliver 20 mA for 80 continuous hours. During that time the voltage will drop from 9V to 6V. Assume the drop in voltage is linear with time. How much energy does the battery deliver in this 80 h interval?

A. If it's linear, then we can average the voltage at 7.5 volts, as long as the current drain is constant. If the current were not constant, you would have to use calculus. 7.5v x 20 ma = 150 mW 80 hours is 288000 seconds energy = 150mW x 288000 s = 43200 joules, or 12 watt-hours .

An before words that start with vowels AND H?
Q. I am confused as to when to use 'an'. Some people say you should use an before letters beginning with H like an historical event. But i dont think it sounds right! What is the right way to use 'an'?
Asked by Alana Lama -Go Eagles- - Sat May 24 01:25:17 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You use 'an' if the word starts with a vowel sound, not just an actual vowel, so it depends on how you pronounce the words that start with h -- if the h is silent like in 'hour' you should say 'an'. With the word 'historical' a lot of people drop the 'h' and say 'istorical', it sounds better if they say 'an' but if you pronounce the 'h' it sounds better to say 'a'.
