Abuse can come in many forms.

Types and contexts of abuse

Abuse of authority

Main articles: Oppression and Political corruption

Abuse of authority, in the form of political corruption, is the use of legislated powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. Misuse of government power for other purposes, such as repression of political opponents and general police brutality, is not considered political corruption. Neither are illegal acts by private persons or corporations not directly involved with the government. An illegal act by an officeholder constitutes political corruption only if the act is directly related to their official duties.

What drives someone to abuse or kill an animal for fun?
Q. I've never gotten why so many people like hurting or killing animals just for laughs. I get hunting and understand population control but to kill just get your rocks off is just something that I can't understand. So I'm curious what drives someone to abuse or kill an animal for fun?

A. I used to work at Corrections (headquarters) and did a lot of research on various topics. My opinion, is that some people like the control - over life or death - that they have by killing animals. And if it is a sadistic / torture killing - they may grow bored with it - and move onto doing the same thing to humans. Some people have a hatred of others - so bad that they enjoy tormenting other people. It may be at several different levels. I worked for the state at one agency and we had 3 levels of management that really enjoyed tormenting the employees. I was a supervisor and would be called in and given orders to cause the employees to have problems on the job. I would refuse. It was so bad that one employee came in and jumped… [cont.]

Is it abuse to keep a dog in a small room for long and short periods of time?
Q. Is it abuse to keep a dog in a small room for long and short periods of time? My husband and I have to go to work for 6 hours, and we have a dog. We keep him in a small room, the size of maybe a walk in closet? He can walk and run around, so it is roomy for him. We put a green blanket and all his toys with him. Plus, we boarded the windows and anything hurtful with wood. I was wondering if this is dog abuse or not. Please help?

A. No this isn't abuse. In fact it's one of the best things you can do. A small room or a kennel. Eventually through your training and discipline the dog will be able to roam the house w/o causing destruction or going potty in the house. Rotate the toys so they seem interesting to the puppy and he'll playing w/ them. I hope w/ you boarding everything up etc there is a bit of light coming in. Turn a radio on while your gone too, it'll make the dog a bit more comfortable. You'll be okay. I had to leave my girls for about that amount of time when I first got them. As long as the puppy gets all the walks and exercise he needs he should be okay. Good Luck
