A. i used to think it's got something to do with "pagtanaw ng utang na loob" -- i still do, but now i see it in another way, coz my Tatay gave his opinion about the meaning of the proverb. He said it's about how you look back (and learn) from your past (mistakes, past successes, etc.) that you will be able to move on further (example, a future goal / aim) or take one step higher until you reach your goal... something like that... i googled it, and what i found somehow supports my Tatay's opinion... and i picked out a line from the article: "Knowing our past helps us know who we are and what we could become."
