A genre (pronounced /ˈʒɑːnrə/, also /ˈdʒɑːnrə/; from French, genre /ʒɑ̃ʀ/, "kind" or "sort", from Latin: genus (stem gener-), Greek: genos, γένος) is a loose set of criteria for a category of composition; the term is often used to categorize literature and speech, but is also used for any other form of art or utterance. Genres are vague categories with no fixed boundaries, they are formed by sets of conventions, and many works cross into multiple genres by way of borrowing and recombining these conventions. The scope of the word "genre" is sometimes confined to art and culture, particularly literature and music, but it has a long history in rhetoric as well. I have a bunch of mp3s with all the ID3 tag information filled out (artist, album, etc) except for the genre. Is there something that will automatically fill in the genre based on the artist and album? I dont care if it follows the itunes or allmusic or any other genre guide. Thanks! I've tried a bunch of "automatic" ID3 taggers and all the ones I've tried suck - they crash, they only recognize albums that are in their (very limited) database already, or they are spyware. Personally, I use iTunes for all my music. In iTunes, you can batch-tag files with the same information. For instance; Click the first track in an album to highlight it, then hold SHIFT and click that last track - that will highlight the entire album. Then right-click and select "Get Info." If you get a box saying something like "you are about to edit info on a bunch of songs" click okay. Then type in the genre and click okay. That will change the genre for the entire album at once. I looked through it and it lists a whole bunch of movies. From there you can pretty much cherry pick which films you want to use. Wikipedia Info: Personally if I were you, I'd use the films: Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and Saving Private Ryan. ALL have powerful plots, characters, and directors.
