How Can there Not Be a Higher Power?
Q. I dont want to be told how stupid i am for stating my beliefs but i see that it is kind of impossible for there not to be a higher power. How do you explain before the bing bang and where time/space started. You cant just say it just happened someone or something had to start it thus a higher power. I'm a opened minded person looking for other peoples views so agree or disagree and what are your reasons?

What is the difference between a Higher Power and God?
Q. I especially want to hear from people who prefer the term "Higher Power". Thanks!
Asked by Tamara - Tue Nov 18 13:03:37 2008 - Religion & Spirituality - 4 Answers - Comments
A. Well to say there isn't a higher power is ridiculous. There's obviously something in this earth that creates life (be that amazing ones like breakdancers, pointless ones like duck billed platypus, or evil ones like cancer) and it's clearly working. Life happens, death happens. That's a force, a mindless one, but a force nonetheless. Whereas god is a man with a beard that creates earths before working out they'll need a sun

What is the proof that a higher power is god?
Q. The Christian God did not create evolution. He made animals separate from humans and never connected them. Evolution is true; otherwise we would not have bones of dinosaurs. The way the world is and how perfect it works must mean that we have a higher power that helps us work it, right? Than where is the proof that this 'higher power' must be a 'god?'

A. Zero proof, but just in case, you better worship Zeus.

Why Does spirituallity contist of a belief in a higher power?
Q. Would it not be spirtuality if you believe that Human beings were the higher power. Why does they always have to be something higher than you? Where does it end. What if God has a God?
Asked by soon - Tue Oct 7 18:09:35 2008 - Religion & Spirituality - 11 Answers - Comments
A. I am a spiritual person, and I do not believe in gods. I believe spirituality comes from a deep connection to nature and to other people. Your life is not automatically spiritual and enriched if you believe in God (I should know, I was a Christian for many years). However, if you've ever been in love, been struck speechless by the beauty of natural scenery, formed a deep friendship, or participated in charity work...you'll know exactly what I mean. These feelings are beyond the normal everyday emotions.

Why is it when looking for a higher power it's all ways Christians and not Jews willing to help.?
Q. I am a lost Jew. I don't believe in G-d, a higher power or much of anything but human trouble. When I search the web or actual live people I find plenty who want me to find Jesus. Can you worsen your eyes by wearing glasses with higher power that you're prescribed for?
Q. I had cataract surgery just on my left eye and now my eye has a power of something like -1. I'm still wearing my glasses that I had pre-surgery with a much higher prescription for my right eye. Will I damage the left eye by continuing to wear my old gasses?

A. No, i don't think so. But it will make it harder to see with your left eye while you wear those glasses. My best suggestion is to get new glasses with the right prescription. Or, at least get new lenses.

Doesnt religion mean people need a higher power in their lives?
Q. Wether or not they are true is besides the point in this question. The fact that there are so many religions, doesnt it point to mankinds innate need to believe in a higher power? Its either that or life is too drab and unfulfilling.

A. "Doesnt religion mean people need a higher power in their lives?" I don't know how you get from one point to the other. Many people need the comfort and security of a belief in invisible space duds. We courageous realists do not need superstitious nonsense to keep us safe and warm at night. ~ Why can't Christians be honest? Why can t they just say: "I know my beliefs are illogical, but I've been brainwashed into believing these things my entire life." OR "I am too weak to live in this world, without the hope that there is someone watching over me, and I need to believe in an afterlife". OR "I am too scared to even consider the possibility that there is no God, for fear of being punished by him". OR &q [cont.]

I think the Children's Bible's or Bible story books mainly introduce the main Bible stories to children and concentrate more on teaching morals and what's right and wrong. My mother always read Bible story books to us and some of the stories actually weren't biblical stories...they were more like real life situations that a kid was in and they had to make a good or bad choice. I loved them because when I was really young it was a story so I listened. What I didn't know was that I was learning life lessons from the stories. Those of you who don't accept the existence of a higher power, would you be okay with a mediocre power?
Q. Okay good, Leviticus 14 might interest you. What? Yes the whole chapter. Among other things this power, calling himself God, told the people to sprinkle bird blood seven times around the house. The purpose being to rid the house of a pernicious plague, that had resisted other methods of eviction. Then read the rest of the chapter. So my question is this, if you don't accept the existence of a higher power, would a mediocre power interest you perhaps? .

Do you have free will or does a higher power make your decisions?
Q. What are your opinions? Do you think you make all of your decisions on our own or do you think a higher power, like God, makes your decisions, and everything happens for a reason? Please help! :)
Asked by gm12 - Wed Feb 2 21:58:13 2011 - Politics - 15 Answers - Comments
A. God gives us free will, but he allows and ordains things according to his overall plan. Example- Judas was responsible for betraying Jesus and will be held accountable but his actions were part of God's plan. Thus even those who willfully disobey( free will). In the end serve his purpose.

Q. I dont believe in any religion, i think theyre all a load of garbage, but I do understand the need for people to believe in a higher power, in something beyond this world of hard matter. I understand the need to believe in a home for the soul, an ending to the ongoing, open ended nature of life.
