Spirituality is matters of the spirit, a concept often but not necessarily tied to to a spirit world, a multidimensional reality and one or more deities. Spiritual matters regard humankind's ultimate nature and purpose, not as material biological organisms, but as spirits or energy with an eternal relationship beyond the bodily senses, time and the material world.

The spiritual is contrasted with the physical, matter and the temporary. A sense of connection is central of spirituality — connection to a reality beyond than the physical world and oneself, which may include an emotional experience of awe and reverence. Spirituality may also include the development of the individual's inner life through practices such as meditation and prayer, including the search for God, the supernatural, a divine influence, or information about the afterlife. Spirituality is the personal, subjective aspect of religion, mysticism, magic and occult.

Is it a shame that there isn't a Yahoo Questions category for religion and spirituality?
Q. One where questions of religion and spirituality are actually asked and answered, instead of the same old tired sarcastic arguments lobbed back and forth. Not that I don't enjoy a bit of sarcasm every now & then.

A. Huh? There IS a "questions" category in R&S. The form and manner of the questions and answers are fairly liberal, subject to "Community Guidelines" and/or Yahoo "Terms of Service." If you're tired of the "same old tired sarcastic arguments lobbed back and forth," then I suggest that you cancel your account and find something else to do. Leave the rest of us alone to be as sarcastic as we want to be - theist and non-theist alike.

A. You shouldnt ask a question like this in the atheistic hate-filled American forum. The most spiritual Americans get is knocking on a door for candy on Halloween. === Just look at Red above me. Confusing spiritualism for cultural arrogance.

Spirituality concerns itself with matters of the spirit, a concept closely tied to religious belief and faith, a transcendent reality, or one or more deities. Spiritual matters are thus those matters regarding humankind's ultimate nature and meaning, not only as material biological organisms, but as beings with a unique relationship to that which is perceived to be Reality beyond the bodily senses, time and the material world.
